The Rounwytha Tradition

The Rounwytha Tradition, or Way, is the least known part of Longusian esotericism, {1} with such neglect contributing to the basal misunderstanding of Longusian esoteric philosophy which exists not only among self-professed modern occultists and journalists but also among academics interested in or researching what is often termed modern esotericism.

O9A: Understanding A Modern Occult Extremism

The particular extremism under examination was originally designed in the 1970s as a political and neo-nazi honeytrap to advance the cause of National Socialism. It later – then designated by the appellation ‘order of nine angles’ (ONA, O9A) – morphed into a modern individual way, taught covertly by Adepts to initiates, of a hermetic quest through seven stages (spheres) as described in the Poemandres tractate. Over the next few decades it again morphed, into an Occult extremism by virtue of its antinomian support of National Socialism and Satanism and (i) because of its nihilistic principle of the authority of individual judgment and (ii) because its early writings, mostly by a writer or writers using the nom de guerre Anton Long, became widely and publicly available by means of the Internet.

The 1989 Naos collection was the first exposition of not only the O9A septenary system and the praxis (anados, ἄνοδος) associated with it, but also of the ontology of causal, acausal, and of the ‘nexions’ in and by which acausal being is or can be manifest (presenced) in the causal and in causal beings.

Thus, instead of θεός and ὁ θεός of the hermetic Poemandres tractate and of Greco-Roman paganism the O9A has “the acausal” as Being, the source of causal beings. Which concept is devoid of the anthropomorphic deities, of the causal abstractions of theos and theoi, and devoid of the identification of θεός as the God of Christianity and the Allah of Islam.

In essence, therefore, what is expounded in various texts in Naos is a new esoteric philosophy derived from both ancient hermeticism as described in the Corpus Hermeticum, in particular the Poemandres tractate, and Greco-Roman paganism.
