The Rounwytha Tradition

The Rounwytha Tradition, or Way, is the least known part of Longusian esotericism, {1} with such neglect contributing to the basal misunderstanding of Longusian esoteric philosophy which exists not only among self-professed modern occultists and journalists but also among academics interested in or researching what is often termed modern esotericism.

Ethics And The O9A Movement

°°°

°°°

The text focuses on ethical questions raised by the Occult O9A movement especially in relation to what is termed the O9A’s Labyrinthos Mythologicus. The genesis of this study was reading two essays both published in 2023: (i) Deconstructing The O9A and (ii) The End Of The Order Of Nine Angles. The first of these essays almost exclusively used what has been termed O9A primary sources which were defined there as the pre-2012 texts The Deofel Quartet, The Satanic Letters, and Naos, all written by Anton Long, which the author of the first essay wrote contained “the foundations of O9A esoteric philosophy” and which foundations are hermetic in nature with the foundational Occult symbolism the septenary Star Game. The second essay describes why the Inner O9A, the ‘old guard’ consisting of students personally taught by Anton Long before 2012, abandoned the O9A movement in favour of their own Hebdomian Way.

Some Signs Of Our Era

°°°°°°°

°°°°°°°

It is no longer surprising, for me and for a minority of others, how many people in this modern technological age:

§ seem to lack the ability to use logical reasoning when writing about or discussing a subject;

§ do not research a subject for themselves using scholarly methodology and primary sources;

§ commit fallacies of reasoning such as appeal to authority and ad populum;

§ use an Internet resource such as ‘wikipedia’ as a source of information about a subject even though it is a tertiary source and thus is based on interpretive secondary sources.

Enantiodromia And The Tree Of Wyrd

°°°

°°°°°°°

Enantiodromia and The Tree Of Wyrd

°°°°°°°

Reproduced here is a chapter from Myatt’s The Numinous Way Of Pathei-Mathos [1] whose title is self-explanatory: Enantiodromia and The Reformation of The Individual. It is relevant to both the Longusian Seven Fold Way [2] and our Hebdomian Way [3] because both are an enantiodromia, a discovery of one’s wyrd and thus a changing, an evolution, of the individual. In both the Longusian esoteric tradition and the Hebdomian Way the term wyrd is cognate with the Saxon werthan, from the Old Frisian wertha which became the Old English wythan/wuthan, and the Icelandic verða. The meaning is ‘to become’, to develop; or in the esoteric sense ‘to evolve’. Hence why the septenary system, as illustrated above, is termed the Tree Of Wyrd. Thus the esoteric (Batin) meaning and usage of the term wyrd is ‘to evolve’, to change, as opposed to the exoteric (Zahir) usage or meaning of ‘to be destined’, Fate, and so on.

[2] As a stalwart of the Longusian tradition recently wrote: “The whole hermetic and practical Seven Fold Way, as first publicly described in 1989 in Naos, and which takes a decade, usually two decades, to complete is an enantiodromia; that is, a discovery of The Unity, of The One, of The Monas; a re-balancing of what the Poemandres tractate of the ancient Corpus Hermeticum described as having been separated into portions.” https://sevenoxonians.files.wordpress.com/2024/02/esotericism-ethics.pdf

The Hebdomadary

°°°

The term Hebdomadary in the context of the Hebdomian Way refers to the individual who is undertaking an esoteric journey or quest (ἄνοδος) for Lapis Philosophicus by means of following the path that is the Hebdomian Way. The Way consists of seven stages which ancient hermetic tradition symbolized by the seven classical planets beginning with Lune, the Moon, and ending with Saturni, Saturn.

(pdf)

Both the Longusian Seven Fold Way and the more recent Hebdomian Way are modern hermetic quests for Lapis Philosophicus. For decades, those associated with the esoteric tradition of the septenary system (ἑβδομάς) which forms an integral part of the Occult philosophy of the Longusian tradition have maintained not only that their septenary system has ancient roots and is far older than the medieval Hebrew Kabbalah used by most other modern Western Occultists, but also that it is in essence a hermetic philosophy. As is the non-Longusian Hebdomian Way.

Such links to ancient hermeticism are particularly obvious when the insights and understanding of Julius Evola as manifest in his La Tradizione Ermetica are considered in the context of those two modern hermetic quests, The Star Game, and Myatt’s translation of and commentary on tractates of the Corpus Hermeticum.

Noesis In Tractate 13

°°°

°°°°°°°

A recent essay by Myatt is interesting and informative regarding the term noesis and which term we have used in respect of both Myatt’s Star Game and our hermetic Hebdomian Way.

Although the essay is somewhat abstruse given its many footnotes and quotations from texts such as the Corpus Hermeticum it is nevertheless in our view an important contribution to modern hermeticism and to understanding its ancient roots, with the following from toward the end of the essay summing this up:

“Theos, (θεὸς) and The Theos (ὁ θεὸς) and The Father of several of the tractates of the Corpus Hermeticum are not equivalent to the God of the Christian tradition and that to render ὁ θεὸς and θεὸς of such tractates by the term God is a mistake. Hence my somewhat iconoclastic view that the hermeticism of the eight tractates I have translated and commented on are not only far more redolent of Greco-Roman pagan mysticism than they are of early Christianity but also that they, contrary to the modern majority view, may well have influenced early Christianity. Thus noesis, a personal method, a praxis, by which particular knowledge, a particular understanding, can be obtained, is of and presences that Greco-Roman pagan mysticism and the alchemical tradition that derived from it and which tradition was so well expressed in Lawh al-Zumurrud.”

Myatt, A Rural Homeland, And The Pursuit Of The Numinous

The Secret Joy, A Painting by Richard Moult

°°°

A recent essay by an academic concerning Myatt’s idea of a rural homeland, which Myatt described toward the end of his years (1968-1998) as a neo-nazi activist, has renewed interest in the idea. Given the use by the author of that essay of fairly recent manufactured abstractions, based on theories such as “emotionology” to (re)interpret Myatt’s idea and Myatt himself in a particular, political and dehumanizing way, we present here (i) an overview of Myatt’s idea as evident in his writings; (ii) how, in our view, that idea manifested his non-racist (re)interpretation of National Socialism as evident in his Reichsfolk organization and such writings as his 111yf (2000) article Why National-Socialism is Not Racist written while he was on bail following his arrest in 1998, by Special Branch (SO12) as part of Operation Periphery, on suspicion of incitement/conspiracy to murder and incitement to racial hatred; and (iii) how that idea was ethically developed and finally, post-2010, rejected by Myatt along with his rejection of National Socialism.

The Internet-based ‘wikipedia’ article about the public figure David Myatt is a good example of why such items, based as they are on secondary and tertiary and not primary sources, are fundamentally flawed with most of those using them as a source of information about a person inadvertently committing the fallacy of reasoning known as appeal to authority.
